beat up and broken

April 21, 2010

i have to say this website killed me. and sadly i don’t even think i did it correctly….but still i did what i could. i realize that i probably shouldn’t have spent so much time designing….because it’s totally different when translating it to web…….or maybe you’ll computer will crash and not save any of your work, like mine did :( so i apologize for the mess of my photoshop file. i’m actually surprised that even though this thing called interactive pushed me to the point of insanity i am actually not giving up on it. i really want to be able to be comfortable with web interfaces and codes, etc. and i think it’s all just all in good practice… so… even though what i created isn’t perfect or probably not technically and organizationally savy, i can still go on with a little bit of pride that i didn’t call quits when i easily was tempted to, and i have something to show for. but yes, after this i need a large large nap and a shower and maybe even remember to eat.

and more…….

edits

April 7, 2010

this is the edits done after critic which basically was an effort to make the page more immediately recognized as an airline site instead of a fashion site. Also there was an attempt to make the landing page have more previews of what the whole site is about….but after another critic, we decided that the city navs should have city based landing pages…for example: paris landing page should be about paris and the subnavs (reserve, manage, tours, calendar, membership) would function for the general site and not just city specific. This solution would be less confusing, and potentially a less cluttered page. We decided that the chunky ugly check in/search box should only be located in the “reserve” page and maybe an easy click on the home page. For the home page i’m replacing the departure city boxes with rollovers that light up on the map when you roll over the specific city. The tours sub sub page is changing…instead of a schedule (which i can use for the “calendar” page) it’s going to list all of the package tours you can pick from, or the option to hand pick them and then a date box and a link to the reserve page. The other four pages ( reserve, manage, calendar, membership) are going to look similar to the tours sub page. now must work……..a lot!

tween fever

February 24, 2010

i am so glad we are done with MoMA and tweens. although i must say, with the tweens i was less afraid to try more creative navigations than just drop down menus. the navigation system for this round functions as an accoridan/book. it could be an entire book with different categories throughout the pages which can be flipped through linear or jump to each section with the click of the category (probably easiest and quickest, but the other way enables wandering into places  that weren’t intended but end up being a plus).with some flash i’m sure it would look a lot cooler, but this will have to do for now.

tween trio sub sub

so this is the sub sub…….the description of one of the events within the calendar within the home page. don’t think too much just click.

tween trio home

i did a lil redesign. i like this one better even though its not as traditional/ straight forward. but the idea for this version is wheels or bubbles that rotate. the “O” is the indicator that points to different categories and then a new bubble pops up. within that specified bubble, other options are available. i don’t think its too complicated. everything is visibly accessible, just within bubbles….like those russian dolls. basically i tried to make the navigation layers visible with colorful circles, you’ll know how deep or shallow you are in by the number of circles…and you don’t lose sight of the start page.

MoMA tweeny

February 16, 2010

this is for the tweens……i dunno it feels real nickelodeon to me. i noticed that MoMA is not very fond of images. when i looked up other “tween” sites, there was always pictures and video clips which are the most appealing at this age. so i’ve decided to make use of that trend. the intent is to be able to have everything visible on the home page but also to able to scan horizontally for dates and events and also images and then scan vertically for video clips. i am not sure if we are supposed to upload these the week that we did them or the week after? but here it is. the other two pages are coming up…
